BYC’s program for kids in 6th through 12th grades is affiliated with the Montana Interscholastic Cycling League. We are are one of over 26 states across the country who are part the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, a program that embraces cycling as a life-long sport and is dedicated to supporting student athletes in their development of strong minds, strong bodies, and strong characters. NICA’ s core values mirror the values of BYC, while connecting us to a larger cycling community.
The Bozeman/Gallatin NICA Team will focus on improving riding skills and fitness, having fun, and fostering team camaraderie. Riders will greatly improve their mountain biking skills in a supportive, enjoyable team environment. Riders who prefer not to participate in races will still play an integral role, and may choose to support the team on race day in other ways.
The Bozeman/Gallatin NICA Team has space for all kinds of riders from recreational to racing – however this team focuses on cross-country mountain bike skills (not enduro or downhill). This team is open to and perfect for ALL kids within the Bozeman School District (including homeschool!) going into grades 6th through 12th who want to mountain bike!
NICA’s mission is to:
- Promote athlete skills development, self-confidence, teamwork, professionalism and respect for the community and the environment
- Promote the sport of mountain biking and the benefits of mountain biking as a healthy, low impact, outdoor recreational lifestyle
The 2023 season will be the 5th official year of Montana’s NICA League and the Bozeman/Gallatin NICA Team! We cannot wait after the amazing seasons we have had.
