BYC Youth Program

Bozeman Youth Cycling provides a high-quality and fun youth mountain bike program, open to all abilities – the Youth Program is for kids going into grades 1st through 5th in fall of 2021 (please see the Bozeman NICA Team page for older kids!). We hope to inspire life long love of and involvement in the sport.

We offer need based scholarships. Please take advantage of our generous sponsors and apply for a scholarship, if needed. Complete the scholarship application here.

We do have some requirements for registration. The participant must be within the group’s GRADE by Fall of 2021 (and participants must be 6 years old by June 1st, 2021). Everyone must wear a properly fitted HELMET at all times, additional protective equipment (like gloves!) is not required, but encouraged (please let us know if you’re in need of help purchasing a helmet).  SHOES must be closed toe, we know it’s hot but we like our toes safe! PEDALS should be flat, no “clipping in”. WATER needs to be carried by each participant, either in a bottle cage or a hydration pack.

Our program is a progressive skills-based mountain bike club. The more your child is here, the better (!) as we build upon skills we’ve learned each week. BYC Youth Program is NOT a race development team, we focus on building strong foundation bike handling skills, trail etiquette and team camaraderie – but don’t worry, the kids will do plenty of biking!

PEAK PROGRESSIVE

Days Offered:  Tuesday AND Thursday, 5:15pm – 7:00pm (1 hr 45 mins/day and 2 days/week)

Session (10 weeks): $420, June 15 thru Aug 17

**This group is not appropriate for every child. Please complete THIS FORM to apply for the Peak Progressive group. There is a very limited amount of space in this group. In addition, there is a level of maturity, bike skills and endurance needed for this group. Please also consider registering for the Alpine Rippers team (also 2 days/week).**

At a minimum your child needs to be at a maturity level to follow coaches directions, work well in a group setting, and ride for almost 2 hrs. In addition, your child must have at least 2 seasons of riding with BYC – this ensures a level of bike handling skills needed for this team.

Focus: More advanced skills, more endurance, more riding. This group will progress faster and ride further for a longer period of time. These riders are not afraid of going down and also love the uphill ride!

SESSIONS:

Where available, you may sign your child up for both Session 1 and Session 2. However, if your family is planning a vacation or if a 10-week commitment is too much, please just sign-up for one session to allow space for other families. Thank you.
